Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Scienceand Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run universitybetween the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special AdministrativeRegion. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education(MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institutionco-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement andimplementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for DeepeningGlobally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, HongKong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”. With a spirit of pioneeringinnovation, HKUST(GZ) charts new territories in cross-disciplinaryeducation and explores new frontiers in pedagogies, aiming to serve as arole model of the mainland-Hong Kong integrated educational developmentand become a world-famous high-level university, endeavoring to nurturefuture-oriented, high-level and innovative talents.
In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidlychanging world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinaryacademic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute theconventional one characterized by “school” and “department”,facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developingemerging and frontier disciplines. This is a groundbreaking move in thehigher education community across the globe.
HKUST(GZ) comprises four Hubs, namely Function Hub, Information Hub,Systems Hub, Society Hub and 16 thrusts. The admission of undergraduatestudents begins in 2023, with the first batch of programs coveringartificial intelligence, data science and big data technology and smartmanufacturing engineering.
HKUST(GZ) is located at No.1 Duxue Road, Qingsheng Hub Cluster, NanshaDistrict, Guangzhou. The campus covers an area of about 1,669 mu (111.3hectares) and is divided into two construction phases. The first phasecovers an area of about 716 mu (47.7 hectares) with a floorage of about636,000 square meters (63.6 hectares), which had been officially putinto use in September 2022. The design of the campus blends naturalscenery with architecture, with key cutting-edge technologies for energyconservation and environmental protection adopted during the design andconstruction process, in a bid to establish the campus as a newbenchmark of green, smart and sustainable development.
The Brain and Intelligence Research Institute is a newly establishedresearch unit at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology thatfocuses on the study of brain sciences, brain disorders and informationprocessing in the brain in connection with computer and artificialintelligence. We are now looking for applicants to provide technicalsupport to the senior management for the initial setup and futureoperation of Institute. Newly recruited staff will be based in Guangzhoucampus. •Assisting the senior management in the establishment and operation ofthe institute, including laboratory setup, equipment procurement,operation and technical support, budget and space management, and otherduties assigned by the senior management. •Working with professors, other departments and offices, and externalstakeholders to ensure the smooth setup and operation of the instituteto meet the teaching and research needs of the university. •Perform other duties assigned by the senior management.
工作职责 •协助相关负责人处理研究所的建设及日后运行等工作，包括实验室建设、仪器设备采购、实验室运行、经费及空间管理、日常事务以及相关负责人交代的其他任务； •协调与教授，大学校内其他部门以及外部相关机构的工作，保证研究所的顺利建设和运行以满足大学的教学和科研要求。 •完成上级交办的其他工作。 任职要求: Qualification Requirements •The applicants should have a master’s degree or higher education inbiology or medicine related disciplines. •Three years or more of working experience, especially in laboratorysetup and operation management, brain and neuroscience related areas. •A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. •Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered acontract by HKUST(GZ) entity in accordance with the Mainland labor lawsand regulations. Starting salary will be commensurate withqualifications and experience.
