General Summary

This position serves as a research trainee for the purpose of enhancing and developing research competencies. In this appointment, the postdoctoral researcher will participate in planning, designing and conducting highly technical and complex research projects under the supervision of a Principal Investigator to include analyzing research data, providing interpretations, contributing to the development of research documentation for publications and/or providing technical reports, papers and/or records.

Key Responsibilities

Serves as a research trainee for the purpose of enhancing and developing research competencies
Participates in planning, designing and conducting highly technical and complex research projects under the direction of a supervisor. May or may not work independently.
Position Specific

Identifies, researches, compiles and evaluates data sources, background information and/or technology related to the area of specialization
Develop a proteomics platform to identify and quantify the active HGFA, Matriptase and Hepsin present in the cells and tissues used to characterize the compounds discovered as part of the principal investigator’s research project(s).
Will synthesize compounds
Contribute to grant application & publications derived from project data
Test probes for activity in biochemical assays
Test probes for activity in cell assays
Operates and maintains scientific equipment
Maintains external awareness of scientific discipline through familiarity with current scientific literature
Observes appropriate safety and study requirements by reading, understanding and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements and study protocols
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

PhD in Bioorganic or Organic Chemistry
Strong synthetic chemistry background desired
Keen interest in understanding the biology of metastasis
Experience with biochemical or cellular assays
Research experience in the field of specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and methods of analysis
Ability to observe appropriate safety and study requirements by reading, understanding, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements, and study protocols as applicable
Competency in Microsoft Office Suites Products and other relevant software
Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment
