job description:
Neurodegeneration, including the motor neuron disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, remains a mystery. We are interested in understanding, at the molecular and cellular levels, how specific neurons degenerate, how protein folding and misfolding operate in the cell, and how protective systems fail during disease.
Postdoctoral candidates are invited to join this new lab to lead several exciting projects to address fundamental questions at the related forefronts, using molecular and cellular, genetic, and biochemical approaches. Projects employing C. elegans and genetically engineered mice are available.
The lab is affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the Department of Neuroscience of the School of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. The medical campus provides a stimulating and collaborative environment for biomedical research. The Baltimore/Washington D.C. area also offers rich professional and living opportunities.
