job description:
The Institute of Physiology at the University of Würzburg invites applications for a Postdoctoral (E13) and a Doctoral position (E13/2). Applicants will have a completed degree in biology, medicine or a related field in natural sciences, good knowledge of basic molecular biology and/or protein chemistry, and enthusiastic interest in cardiovascular research.
The overall goal of our projects is to characterise the significance and therapeutic potential of the natriuretic peptides / cyclic GMP pathway in the cardiovascular system. The multidisciplinary approach will utilize a variety of methods including molecular biology, biochemistry and functional analyses (e.g. conditional cell-restricted gene knockout in mice / CreLoxP, cardiomyocyte and endothelial signalling, fluorometric calcium and pHi measurements; angiogenesis).
The project is part of a network of Würzburg scientists and clinicians representing four faculties and eleven institutes/clinics, linking their expertise and infrastructure for investigating the mechanisms of cardiovascular cell-cell interactions, and molecular and functional imaging of these interactions (see http://www.sfb688.de/). The Institute of Physiology is part of this network and has been completely renewed, recently. It offers excellent laboratory space and modern techniques which allow answering scientific questions in an interdisciplinary way.
