Pfizer Inc. Postdoctoral position within the Chemical Research andDevelopment department of Pfizer Global Research and Development inGroton, Connecticut. PhD required, preferably in Organic Chemistry. PhDin Chemical Engineering or Analytical Chemistry also acceptable ifcombined with a strong background in organic chemistry.
This position is for the development of new technologies to solvechemical problems for pharmaceutical process R&D. Next generationtechnologies for the future portfolio of drug candidates will bedeveloped internally and in collaboration with outside partners. Flowreactors, process analytical technologies, novel chemical reactionenvironments, and automated laboratory reactors will be developed toincrease the speed and efficiency of reaction screening, reactionoptimization, developing process understanding, process intensification,and successfully transferring reactions from lab to large scale. Whilesynthetic organic chemistry is the primary objective, physical organicchemistry, analytical chemistry and chemical engineering tools andconcepts may be applied. Thus cross disciplinary interests and skillsare valuable for this position including synthetic and mechanisticorganic chemistry, laboratory automation, spectroscopy, and software skills.
Qualifications: Minimum - 4 or more years experience in the field ofchemical process research or development , or equivalent. Excellentknowledge of synthetic organic chemistry necessary. Strong physicalchemistry knowledge and chemical scale up knowledge desirable .Experience or aptitude in utilizing automated laboratory equipment andsoftware tools to enhance experimentation efficiency and depthdesirable. Strong analytical interpretation skills necessary. Excellentinterpersonal skills necessary.
