The Beatson Institute is one of Europe’s leading cancer research centres. It is core funded by Cancer Research UK and supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Beatson Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the art core services and advanced technologies. A new research facility, due for completion this year will allow significant expansion of the Institute over the next few years.

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious postdoctoral researcher to investigate the role of Rho subfamily GTPases and integrin trafficking in invasive migration of tumour cells. The position will be to work on a project looking at the role that Src-family kinases and Rab-associated FIPs have in directing integrin and growth factor receptor trafficking whilst cells migrate through 3D matrices. This post will be held in the Integrin Cell Biology Lab (Dr Jim Norman), and involve a close collaboration with Prof. Margaret Frame.

The position requires a strong interest in the application of live cell imaging approaches (FLIP, FRAP, TIRF and the use of photoactivatable probes) to cancer biological problems, and the skill to combine this with the analysis of protein: protein interactions both in biochemical and microscopy (FRET/FLIM) formats. Substantial experience of molecular biology/cloning techniques and basic eukaryotic cell biology approaches will be essential.

3 year fixed term contract.

Salary：￡25,500 - ￡28,500
