Position:

Postdoctoral researchers to study the mechanisms and function of signal transduction activated by chemoattractants and Wnts

Deadline:

September 1, 2007

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Positions are immediately available to study the mechanisms and function of signal transduction activated by chemoattractants and Wnts in the Vascular Biology Program and Department of Pharmacology, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, CT.

Chemoattractants play important roles in regulation of the immune functions and are key mediators of inflammatory responses. They are also involved in tumor metastasis. Wnt-activated signaling pathways regulate a wide range of physiological and pathophysiological processes, including embryonic development, organogenesis, bone remodeling, myogenesis, adipogenesis, tumorigenesis, and stem cell biology. We are currently using various biochemical, molecular and cell biological, genetic, proteomic, large scale RNAi screening, and transgenic and gene targeting approaches to: 1) characterize signaling pathways and networks of chemoattractants and understand mechanistic basis for chemotaxis of leukocyte, endothelial cells, and metastatic cancer cells; 2) elucidate Wnt signaling mechanisms, investigate the functions of Wnt signaling with regard to bone, diabetes, and stem cell biology. In addition, we are also exploring the therapeutic and research potentials of small molecule compounds we have identified using virtual "in silico" screening for altering Wnt and Dkk activity.

Competitive Salary and excellent work environment are offered. Self-motivated individuals with a Ph.D. trained in any area of biomedical sciences are encouraged to apply. Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.

The deadline for receipt of applications is September 1, 2007.
