Description
Post-doctoral position available to study the molecular mechanisms ofcell-cell interactions in mammalian development and physiology, usingmouse as a model system. The three main areas of research interest are:(1) The molecular characterization of the Hedgehog signaling pathway. Weare interested in elucidating the molecular mechanisms by which Hedgehogsignaling controls mammalian embryonic development and the roles ofHedgehog signaling in postnatal physiology and homeostasis such as stemcell maintenance and cancer formation. (2) Lung branching morphogenesisas a model system to study signal integration during vertebrateembryogenesis. (3) We are involved in the NHLBI-Bay Area FunctionalGenomics Consortium (http://baygenomics.ucsf.edu/), which uses customgene-trap vectors to inactivate thousands of genes in mouse embryonicstem (ES) cells. In all of these studies, a combination of mousegenetics (transgenic and knockout mice), cell biology and biochemistryare employed.
