TWO POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY to studyextracellular matrix signaling at the University of Illinois. Thelaboratory is interested in the biological functions and mechanisms ofactions of the CCN matricellular proteins in development and disease. Inparticular, we are interested in how CCN proteins signal throughintegrin receptors to regulate diverse processes including apoptosis, gene expression, and cell migration in the context of angiogenesis, inflammation, and matrix remodeling.
The positions will focus on one of two general areas: 1. The roles ofCCN proteins in cardiovascular development and function. Variousapproaches including the use of knockout, conditional knockout, andallelic replacement mouse models are being employed in these studies. 2.The roles of CCN proteins in inflammation and injury repair. Thefunctional cooperation between CCN proteins and inflammatory cytokinesthrough integrin-mediated signaling is being analyzed both in vitro andin vivo.
Suitable candidates will have a Ph.D. or equivalent and background inbiochemistry and cell and molecular biology. Demonstrated skills inrelevant techniques and experience working with mice are desirable.
