Position:

A postdoctoral position to study mouse models of hearing loss.

Job Description:

A postdoctoral position is available starting August to study mouse models of hearing loss. The aim is to understand the molecular genetic basis of inner ear development and disease in mouse models of Ushers and other genetically defined mouse models of hearing loss. Methodology used includes transcriptomics, proteomics, electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, laser capture microdissection and the like. These are high priority areas for NIDCD/NIH providing fertile ground for further funding at the postdoctoral level and beyond. The candidate will be able to interact with other investigators in the department (working with other animal models, such
as guinea pigs and zebra fish) and members of Research Centers on campus. Case is an outstanding environment for biomedical research. Case and its affiliates rose to 12th out of 122 medical schools nationwide in 2005 NIH ranking. Salary will be very competitive and commensurate with experience, publications and good recommendation letters. Interested applicants should have a Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in microbiology, genetics, or biochemistry and a strong publications record. Candidate with a background in mouse genetics is preferred but not necessary.
