Job Description:
School of Pharmacy
Division of Medicinal Chemistry & Structural Biology
A highly motivated postdoctoral scientist is required for a research project funded by Cancer Research UK to study the molecular interactions between integrin and the extracellular matrix proteins, type III collagen and laminin. A thorough understanding of these interactions will lead to the design of inhibitors of angiogenesis and tumour growth. The successful candidate will use modern peptide chemistry and bio-orthogonal ligation methods to construct unique hetero-triple helical peptides. The research fellow will also contribute to helical stability and integrin binding studies.
Candidates should have a PhD in medicinal chemistry or chemical biology, together with a strong interest in structural biology. The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team is essential.
Salary will be within the range £23,457 – £24,402 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years.
