The research focus of this position is the synthesis, characterization, and modification of various crystalline chalcogenide and halide compounds and other new materials. The project involves synthesis, characterization, and
modification of a wide range of bulk materials, followed by structural, optical, electrical characterizations of crystals. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. (received within the last three years or expected within the next six months) in solid state chemistry, physics, or materials science along with practical laboratory experience for synthesis of bulk materials. The candidate must demonstrate experience in synthesis and large crystal growth for bulk materials. Experience with crystal growth using the Bridgman technique and flux is highly preferred. This position will
involve a considerable amount of experimental laboratory work with synthesis and crystal growth. Good written and oral communication skills and work well with others in a team oriented environment are also a must.
