Job Description:
“Functional significance of changes in genome wide gene expressionprofiles associated with renal aging”
The primary aim of this project is to identify gene expression profilesassociated with renal aging in human kidneys. Furthermore, we areinterested which compartment of the kidney (glomerula vstubulointerstititum) is predominantly responsible for the age-specificchanges in gene expression. The work includes the isolation and qualitycontrol of RNA, hybridisation of RNA to microarrays and quantitativereal-time PCR. In collaboration with one of our partners we will applyvarious systems biology tools as pathway analysis, transcription factorbinding site and promoter analysis and also the analysis of gene-gene-interactions.
Essential qualifications:
PhD degree in biology, molecular biology, pharmacy or similar. Personalmotivation, self-reliance, interest in systems biology and the abilityto work in a highly motivated team of clinicians (MD), postdocs (PhD),technicians and students.
Desired qualifications (but not necessarily needed):
Experience in work with gene expression analysis tools like real-timePCR or microarrays
