Postdoctoral Neuroscientist

Grade 7: Salary £26,666 – £32,796 p.a.

Applications are invited for an industrially-funded post to join the Experimental Neuroimaging Group, University of Oxford. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to develop simultaneous electrophysiological and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) measurements in rodent brain, as a biomarker tool for centrally acting pharmacological agents. The successful candidate will use these techniques to assess pharmacokinetic information on novel compounds and to determine activation of sexual arousal or continence relevant nuclei. Candidates should have postdoctoral experience in a neuroscience field, and preference will be given to those with a strong interest in electrophysiology, neuropharmacology and/or expertise in in vivo neuroimaging techniques. The project will involve substantial interaction with the industrial partners (Pfizer Ltd) and, consequently, there is potential for the successful applicant not only to work in an academic environment but also to gain experience in working with a large-scale pharmaceutical company. The appointment will be for 1 year in the first instance, with a second year of funding available.
