Job Description:

The Institute of Cancer Research (University of London) together with The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, forms the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe. The MR Section has an international reputation with a range of clinical and experimental MR systems and extensive computing facilities.

In a collaborative EPSRC project directed at improving breast cancer detection and diagnosis, the post-doctoral training fellow will develop and apply methods of evaluating pairs of breast images based on 3D MR images from a substantial library, to identify features also apparent in mammographic images that can aid development of models of tissue behaviour and appearance to support computer based methods of image comparison, providing a significant development to computer aided diagnosis.

With a PhD in a Physical or Computational Science the successful candidate will have a good knowledge of MR physics and experience in computer analysis of image data sets.

The role will be offered on a fixed term basis of three years in the first instance with a starting salary in the range ￡25,500 to ￡30,250 p.a. inclusive, pay award pending, based on postdoctoral experience.
