A new C. elegans laboratory has just started at the University of Manchester (UK) Faculty of Life Sciences and is looking for post-doc candidates. We are interested in the conserved molecular cancer circuitry focusing on the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signalling and the process of sumoylation. Within this framework two projects are available one will consist of performing systematic loss-of-function by RNAi in sensitised genetic backgrounds and the second will be to further characterise recently identified genes playing an important role in antagonising EGFR signalling.

Description

A new C. elegans laboratory has just started at the University of Manchester (UK), Faculty of Life Sciences, and is looking for post-doc candidates. We are interested in the conserved molecular cancer circuitry focusing on the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signalling and the process of sumoylation. Within this framework, two projects are available, one will consist of performing systematic loss-of-function by RNAi in sensitised genetic backgrounds, and the second will be to further characterise recently identified genes playing an important role in antagonising EGFR signalling. The successful candidates will have access to all the necessary equipment and expertise, and be trained by the group leader. At the moment project grants are being written that will provide salary, equipment, and travel expenses for initially three years. We are looking for candidates who want to co-apply to beneficiate from these grants. The deadline for grant submission is the end of September 2007.
