The Department of Physiology and Neurobiology at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, is seeking a University Postdoctoral Fellow to explore the cellular and molecular basis of neuronal excitability in brainstem regions associated with respiratory control. Our studies use a combination of slice-patch electrophysiology, fluorescent Ca2+ imaging and genetic approaches to identify ion channels that regulate activity and neurotransmitter modulation of neurons that drive breathing. Highly motivated individuals holding a Ph.D. and a strong background in cellular neuroscience are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have Ph.D. and training in whole-cell electrophysiological techniques.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Ca2+ imaging and basic molecular biology techniques.

Appointment Terms: This is an 11-month, end-date position, subject to renewal. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
