Description

The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute leads the world in genomic research, with an expanding scientific programme dedicated to understanding gene function in health & disease.

Acquisition of the next generation sequencing platforms at this early stage in their development represents an exciting opportunity for the Sanger Institute. It will allow the Institute to remain at the forefront of genetics research and to increase its output, while at the same time contributing to the evolution of machines.

Postdoctoral Fellow – Ref 1386

We are seeking a highly talented and motivated Post-Doctoral researcher with a background in Genetics, Genomics or Molecular Biology to develop novel applications and protocols on the latest generation of DNA sequencing platforms. Candidates may have a proven track record or demonstrated exceptional potential during a recently completed PhD. Experience in developing novel methodologies would be an advantage.

Postdoctoral Fellow – Ref 1387

We are seeking a highly talented and motivated post-doctoral researcher who is keen to learn and develop new technologies using the latest generation of new sequencing technologies. Candidates should have a background in Genetics, Genomics or Molecular Biology and may have a proven track record or demonstrated exceptional potential during a recently completed PhD. Experience in working with oligonucleotide arrays would be an advantage.

Both posts would suit applicants interested in working with the latest generation of DNA sequencing technologies and those wanting to develop their laboratory skills in a supportive environment. A PhD in genetics, genomics or molecular biology is essential, as is an undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, genetics or biochemistry. The candidate should have strong practical laboratory skills. Basic computer skills and good communication skills are essential as is the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
