Description
Research on: The roles of non-coding and protein-coding genes in the evolutionary expansion of the cerebral cortex.
We have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on the roles of non-coding and protein-coding genes in the evolutionary expansion of the cerebral cortex. This research will involve both in vivo and in vitro work. The successful applicant will perform the experiments requiring molecular genetics, histology, tissue culture and will also receive some training on the analysis of genomics data. The range of experimental techniques and analytical methods make this post attractive for career development. The post is funded by the BBSRC for 3 years.
This is a collaborative project between the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (Z. Molnar), the MRC Functional Genetics Unit (C. Ponting and K.E. Davies) and NIH- NHGRI (E. Green). The post will be based at the laboratory of Zoltan Molnar at the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mouse genetics, molecular and cellular biology of CNS and an interest in the evolutionary developmental biology of the cerebral cortex.
