Description

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Prof. Yves A Lussier, who is also the Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics in the Dept. of Medicine (DOM) of The University of Chicago. In collaboration with wet-bench scientists of the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center and the Chair of the DOM, we are interested in unveiling the molecular mechanism or cellular networks and discovering novel therapeutic targets of cancer (lung, breast or head and neck neoplasia) .

Our laboratory conducts research in the emerging field of phenomics, using computation to analyze genomic with phenotypic datasets together in order to accurately individualize the understanding, and the treatment of diseases. In collaboration with the GO consortium, we have developed extensive gene-phenotype networks (e.g. http://www.phenogo.org) and distinctive expertise in clinical genomics. Our current interest in this recruitment is to identify interesting gene candidates and molecular signatures of angiogenesis pathways in endothelial cells from experimental and clinical datasets in close collaboration with experimentalists

The successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in biological sciences or M.D., with skills in programming, and experience in modeling regulatory networks. Experience with microarray analysis is desirable and statistical knowledge is a plus. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.
