The postdoctoral fellow will be a member of a Canadian Institutes of Health Research/Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Team in Synchrotron Medical Imaging. The position offers unique training opportunities to link neuroscience with cutting-edge imaging techniques. The candidate will utilize rodent models of global and focal brain ischemia to image metal (e.g. Fe Zn) and sulfur redox (e.g. thiol/disulfide ratios) as they relate to stroke pathophysiology neuroprotection and brain plasticity.
 

Postdoctoral Neuroscience Research Position in Stroke
University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

Salary: $40,000 to $42,000 CDN , depending upon experience.
Duration: 2 years with performance review and possibility of extension.
Location: The University of Saskatchewan is the home of the Canadian Light Source, Canada’s only synchrotron. All applicants must have completed a Ph.D. within the last 5 years, have a strong publication record, and demonstrate excellent communication skills in English. Previous experience with in vivo rodent models of stroke would be an asset, and rodent handling skills are essential. The candidate must be able to work well within a team of interdisciplinary researchers. Training in synchrotron light methodologies will be provided, and no previous experience is required. We must travel to the USA for some data collection and thus, preference will be given to those candidates who have a US visa or do not require one.
