Description & Requirement

Post-doctoral position OCEAN: Optical Carrier Ethernet Access Network OCEAN infrastructure is an end-to-end solution for Ethernet Access services, including end-user/service provider/carrier components. A core optical network ring composed of 3 Cisco ONS-15454 ROADMs is connected to 2 Cisco 6500 routers edges. Access network is represented by 6 multi-scale switch routers (Cisco 2800 and Cisco ME3400). OCEAN infrastructure focuses on the study of protocols, traffic engineering algorithms (provisioning, protection and restoration strategies), system design, and hardware and software developments for dynamic end-to-end QoS-enabled service in next generation networks. Our research aims at enhancing the intelligence, dynamicity, efficiency, robustness, of Optical Networks supporting connection-oriented IP/Ethernet packet transport networks (e.g., MPLS-TP, PBB-TE). The main research line encompasses: Design and performance evaluation of dynamic provisioning, Protection and restoration strategies with traffic engineering, Automated topology, resource discovery and resource reservation. Requirements Candidates should have obtained the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, and should have a research experience in Optical Networking, traffic engineering and performance evaluation. Cisco certification is required Application The post-doc position will last at least for 18 months, and can be enlarged depending on the successful results of the researcher.
