The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences has postdoctoral positions available in the field of natural product chemistry. The fellows will participate in the research activities of the TUT Research Niche Area Natural Products in Drug Development which is one of only two niche areas with center status at TUT.

Job Description The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences has postdoctoral positions available in the field of natural product chemistry. The fellows will participate in the research activities of the TUT Research Niche Area Natural Products in Drug Development which is one of only two niche areas with center status at TUT.
The niche area has a strong research thrust in the phytochemistry and quality control aspects of medicinal plants and phytomedicines. The Department has state-of-the-art chromatography equipment and a fully equipped natural products laboratory.
Successful candidates should have a doctorate in organic chemistry or pharmaceutical chemistry. Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy are absolute requirements.
All applications will follow the internal review process at TUT. Interested applicants should send a letter of motivation, CV, PhD synopsis, to: Prof Alvaro Viljoen (viljoenam@tut.ac.za). The successful applicants will be appointed for one year, renewable for a second and third year based on performance.
