Applications are invited for two Research Fellow positions with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Wake Forest University in the Wake Forest � Virginia Tech School of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering. The fellow will work on an NIH funded project involving the development of self-assembled polymeric nanoparticles with controlled fluorescence to guide surgical resection of tumor tissue. The project involves polymer synthesis and characterization, nanoparticle entrapment of fluorescent dyes, and conjugation of targeting ligands. Experience in polymer and carbohydrate chemistry is highly preferred. Experience in fluorescence spectroscopy and imaging, microscopy, and mouse models of cancers is beneficial. We seek a qualified candidate with a Ph.D. in chemistry, pharmaceutics, biomedical engineering or related areas with a track record of first author publications. Candidates will be expected to excel in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The initial appointment will be 12 months with possibility of renewal contingent upon performance.
