Description
The Discipline of Anatomy and Histology’s Neural Structure and Function Laboratory has a strong focus on the central nervous system circuits and mechanisms that underlie an individual’s response to traumatic injuries. The Laboratory is a part of the Bosch Institute’s largest and most diverse group of researchers devoted to medical advancements in the nervous system, senses and movement.
The Laboratory is currently seeking a meticulous and results-driven Postdoctoral Researcher. The appointee, working with an already established research team, will contribute to a NHMRC (Australia) funded project studying the transition from acute injury to states of chronic pain and disability.
The appointee will be expected to develop and manage research projects and prepare journal publications and reports, as well as play a significant role in preparing future grant applications. Subsequently, strong communication skills, as well as an ability to work well both autonomously and within a team, will be imperative.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in neuroscience or a relevant discipline, and ideally, experience supervising technical staff. Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience in behavioural neuroscience combined with the use of functional-neuroanatomical techniques and/or expertise in glutamate neuropharmacology.

The position is full-time fixed term until December 2009, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
Remuneration package: Academic Level A, Step 8, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
