Mouse Genetics & Deafness
Postdoctoral Fellows – Ref: NA1203-1204
The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute has an expanding scientificprogramme dedicated to using natural and experimental genetics tounderstand the role of genes in health and disease.
We are interested in how mutations lead to hearing and balance defects.In addition to asking questions about the role of known genes in innerear development and function, we are undertaking a large-scale screen todiscover new genes involved in development, function and long-termmaintenance of the auditory system. Further details can be found athttp://www.sanger.ac.uk/Teams/Team27/recruitment/ Applications arewelcomed from energetic individuals with a commitment to high-qualityscience in the context of developing high-throughput approaches todata-gathering. An interest in genetics, physiology, ultrastructure, orcell or developmental biology would be an advantage, as would aninterest in using other model organisms to complement mouse research.Prior experience in auditory research is not essential.
The posts are funded by the MRC, EC and Wellcome Trust, and areavailable immediately for up to three years; salary will be dependentupon skills and experience, normally in the range ??26,650 to ??33,400pa.
