Description
The Molecular Pharmacology Unit is located in the Biomedical ResearchCentre, a Division of the University of Dundee Medical School atNinewells Hospital. The main focus of our research is to study thefunction and regulation of genes which determine the sensitivity ofcells to drugs and environmental chemicals. We have a particularinterest in employing genetic and transgenic technologies to optimisethe development and use of anti-cancer drugs in carcinogenesis.
The following position is available from Jan 1st 2008, for two years inthe first instance.
We are looking for a Research Technician to join the Unit and work aspart of a team providing core support to the Transgenic Group. Theposition will involve a range of biochemistry and molecular biologytechniques, including extraction of DNA from tissues, Southern blotting,PCR, preparation of sub-cellular fractions and Western blotting. Basiccomputer skills will be an advantage, as maintenance of a transgenicrecords database will also be within the remit of the post. Possessionof a Home Office Personal Licence would be advantageous but notessential, as training will be provided.
