Description
A 3-5 year postdoctoral position in statistical / quantitative geneticsis available in the Department of Forensic Molecular Biology, ErasmusUniversity Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The general areaof research is in identifying and understanding human individual andpopulation differences (geographic origin, visible / physical traits,evolutionary genetic adaptation) for fundamental biological interest butalso for potential future application to forensics.
We are using state-of-art D/RNA including genome-wide technologies toidentify respective regions / markers including dedicated follow-upstudies. A suitable applicant will hold a PhD in statistical genetics,biostatistics, computational biology, or genetic epidemiology.
Candidates from another highly quantitative field such as physics orcomputer science who have a good understanding of biology/genetics arealso encouraged to apply as well as candidates with PhDs in genetics,molecular biology or other related areas who have substantialcomputational or statistical expertise. Responsibilities will includestatistical analysis of genome-wide SNP, sequence and expression data aswell as model development, data mining, data basing.
The Erasmus University Medical Center, especially its Medical-GeneticCluster offers a highly international and stimulating researchenvironment with English as working language(www.erasmusmc.nl/medical_genetics). The city of Rotterdam offers amulticultural and exciting living environment in close proximity toother highlights of Europe (e.g. Paris, London, Berlin, and Brussels).
Salary depends on qualification with a gross monthly maximum of ~3584EUR plus extra yearly benefits.
