PostDoc in Neuroscience in New York.
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Graham Ellis-Davies at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. The goal of our research is to understand the basic mechanisms underlying synaptic function. We have recently developed new optical methods for stimulating single GABA receptors in brain slices (Nature Methods (2010) 7, 123-127. and Nature Chemical Biology (2010) 39, 255-7.), and want to extend this work to detail the distribution of functional receptors in an array of different neurons. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who is capable of working independently. A strong background and publication record in neuroscience and expertise in patch-clamp in brain slices is essential.

The Department of Neuroscience at Mount Sinai is the forth best funded in the USA . Furthermore, the new Center for Science and Medicine ( www.som.com/content.cfm/mount_sinai_center_for_science_and_medicine) will open later in 2012, thus Sinai is a very exciting and dynamic place for neuroscience.
