Project: Regulation of DNA repair by cyclin-dependent kinases and itsrole in the maintenance of genome integrity
Dr Fumiko Esashi is setting up a new lab at the WIMM and is seeking tofill a Research Assistant position which is available for three years inthe first instance. The post is funded by Cancer Research UK.
The project addresses one of the most topical issues in cancer biologyconcerning dual roles of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) in DNA damageresponses. CDK activities are down regulated in the checkpoint responseto DNA damage, but are also required for successful error-free DNArepair. It is largely unknown, however, how CDK activities are linked toDNA repair at the molecular level. Understanding this pathway isexpected to provide essential insights into how genome integrity ismaintained in proliferating cells.
We are seeking a scientist with excellent organization and communicationskills who will provide technical support for this leading-edge researchprogram. Candidates should have a first degree or equivalent in arelevant subject; experience in molecular biology and mammalian tissuecell culture is essential. For further information please contact DrFumiko Esashi (fumiko.esashi@cancer.org.uk) or see our website at www.imm.ox.ac.uk
