Description
Moffitt Cancer Center Postdoctoral positions are available to study thestructure and function of diverse drug targets in the laboratory of Dr.Ernst Schönbrunn at Moffitt Cancer Center. This is a post-graduateentry-level position in which the individual is responsible forassisting with research activities as well as conducting independentresearch projects when appropriate under limited supervision.
The successful candidate will perform experiments on various medicinallyimportant proteins to discover novel inhibitors with potential as drugs.This position entails the cloning, large scale purification andcharacterization of recombinant proteins. Depending on interests andskills, the successful candidate will be provided with the opportunityto expand his/her expertise in methods relevant to drug discovery suchas assay development for HTS, molecular modeling, enzymology,high-throughput screening and protein crystallography.
Qualified candidates should have a PhD or equivalent degree in Biology,Biochemistry, Chemistry or related field with a background in molecularbiology and/or protein chemistry. Extensive experience in cloning, PCR,DNA recombinant technology, expression of proteins in bacteria, insectcells and/or yeast and over-expression and large-scale purification ofproteins is required. Experience in macromolecular crystallography,enzyme kinetics and/or molecular modeling is highly desirable. Excellentverbal and written communication skills are required.
The H. Lee Moffitt Comprehensive Cancer Center is a modern facility onthe University of South Florida Campus that conducts research on variousaspects of Cancer Biology with emphasis on translational research. It isthe third largest Cancer Center in the US based on patient volume.Research environment includes state of the art modern core facilitiesand pathogen-free modern animal facilities, access to clinical material, etc.
