Description
A Postdoc position is available in the department of Medicine atJefferson University (Philadelphia, USA) to characterize novelmechanisms regulating platelet and neutrophil adhesion in mouse modelsof thrombosis/hemostasis and inflammation, clinical complications thatare the target of some of the best-selling drugs in the US.
These studies will utilize various techniques in cell biology, molecularbiology and biochemistry, including real-time intravital microscopystudies on platelet and neutrophil adhesion in arterioles and venules inmice, flow cytometry and flow chamber assays, immunofluorescencemicroscopy, protein-protein interaction and small GTPase signalingassays, retroviral transfection of bone marrow cells and bone marrow transplant.
The PI is committed to the applicants career development by creating anexciting and dynamic research environment with state-of-the-arttechnologies, encouraging the preparation of research papers,participation at (inter)national meetings, and submission of independentgrant applications. A technician will be available to the applicant forsupport in laboratory work. Active participation in joint lab meetingswith scientists from various universities throughout Philadelphia and agood international network of collaborators will enable the applicant todiscuss results and exchange ideas. This is a unique opportunity for aPostdoc to work in an exciting research environment with great potentialto develop independent research projects.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or MD degree. All highly motivatedapplicants are encouraged to apply regardless of specific technicalskills. Expertise in molecular biology techniques would be a plus.
The position will be available immediately. A competitive salary will beprovided.
