Postdoctoral fellow (Research scientist) – In vivo Electrophysiology
We are currently looking for a Postdoctoral fellow to the Division ofNeurobiology at Lundbeck’s headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Our main focus is to identify novel mechanisms to treat CNS diseasessuch as schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Weare engaged in the early phases of drug discovery with main focus ontarget identification and validation, translational techniques,mechanistic in vivo pharmacology and neurophysiology. The team consistsof 12 full time academic employees in addition to graduate and PhDstudents, and 13 research associates, who work together in excellentlaboratory facilities. We have an international profile and share anopen and warm social climate. Our project teams work across divisions ina dynamic and challenging environment. We have strong links to academiclaboratories and encourage our scientists to publish their work whenever possible.
Your job
In the division you will be engaged within the Neurophysiology group,which is in charge of in vivo microdialysis and in vivoelectrophysiology. You will be engaged in different drug discoveryprojects and be working with target and disease model validation. Yourmain tasks will be to validate the relevance of new targets in theneuronal circuitries involved in schizophrenia. You will plan andconduct your own experiments, perform data analysis and write reports.You will also be expected to seek and engage in collaborations that willbe complimentary to the research activities present at Lundbeck
Your qualifications
Our preferred candidate has/is:
• A PhD in neurobiology, ideally within the field of psychosis, and arecord of publications in the field of in vivo electrophysiology.
• Experience in performing in vivo electrophysiological recordings inrodents, in particular extracellular single unit recordings ofdopaminergic neurons.
• Knowledge of the diseases of the central nervous system.
• Appreciation of independent and flexible work as well as being part ofa team within a flat-structured organisation and possess qualities asinitiative and genuine interest in exploratory tasks.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
