Description
In the junior research group Apoptosis of GSF - Research Center forEnvironment and Health in cooperation with Dr. von HaunerschesKinderspital of Ludwig Maximilians University Munich (head: PD Dr.Irmela Jeremias), we are looking for a postdoc in biology, biochemistry,human or veterinary medicine or related topics and group leader(contract with LMU) to start February 1, 2008, or later. The aim of ourresearch is to improve anti-cancer therapy.
For this purpose, we study intracellular signalling of programmed celldeath in tumour cells and characterize and modulate apoptosis defects.We study apoptosis induction by TNF family members, conventionalanticancer drugs and new substances in preclinical testing. As modelsystems, we use tumour cell lines and primary tumour cells of childrenwith leukemia in vitro and in preclinical mouse models in vivo. Wethereby integrate basic science of molecular and cell biology withtranslational research.
We are looking for an individual with independent and critical thinking,above-average engagement, extraordinary, long-ranging interest inscience and capacity to think and act self responsible in researchpurposes. Genuine scientific interest and the ability to use initiativeand take decisions with little supervision will be important advantages,as will the ability to analyse own and external data rigorously, to makesound scientific judgements and to use original thinking to tackleproblems. He or she should be able to accomplish a leading positionwithin the group. You should have a Master, a PhD degree and a proventrack record of delivery and independence, experiences in molecularbiology, tissue-culture and animal models at best.
You will join a well-funded international research group in awell-equipped and scientifically stimulating surrounding withcommunicative atmosphere. Prerequisite for your application is theability to perform and afford a personal presentation in our lab in the50th week of 2007 in Munich, Germany.
