The Departments have state-of-the-art resources for molecular/cellular biology and microscopic techniques. The faculty has several relevant core facilities such as a transgenic production facility. Umea is a one hour flight from the capital Stockholm and the University has 29,000 students and as one of Scandinavia’s top research Universities it currently >150 awards PhDs per year. Umea is a young, vibrant and international city where a good knowledge of English is sufficient for every-day life (see also www.umu.se/international_office). These fellowships are initially intended for 2 years and the initial support is in the range 16 000 – 18 000 SEK/month in the form of a tax-free stipend.
Applicants must hold a PhD-degree at the start of the postdoc period in a relevant subject. A first name authorship in a peer-viewed international journal (listed by ISI) is in general considered as a minimum of research experience. Interested individuals should submit a mandatory 1-2 page personal description of the candidate’s FUTURE research interests (note that this is NOT a listing of previous research experience) and this should be addressed to the research group leader whose project is considered most close to that interest.
Contact
Note that it is only possible to apply to two of the group leaders. Also include a curriculum vitae and name plus Email of 2 reference persons whose relation to the candidate should be explained. This should be submitted by email to postdoc@molbiol.umu.se no later than Jan 15th 2008.
