School of Pharmacy
The Schools of Pharmacy, Community Health Sciences and Human Development(The University of Nottingham), Child Health (University of Leicester)and Children’s Services (Leicester City PCT) are to undertake a projectto develop and pilot a new paediatric medicines management servicedelivery package. This high profile project is funded by the NIHRService Delivery and Organisation Medicines for Children Programme andwill have implications for national practice. A project co-ordinator andresearch fellow are required for 21 months (full-time) to commence inMarch 2008.
This is a multidisciplinary, multi-centre research project addressingclinical, patient-centred, economic and service delivery issues aroundoptimising medicines use in children and young people. The project willemploy validated qualitative and quantitative research tools at clinicalsites in Nottingham and Leicester University Hospitals Trusts.
The role of the successful candidate is the implementation of the agreedprogramme of research. This consists principally of co-ordinating datacollection through focus group and interviews and evidence synthesis,followed by development and piloting of a package to empower childrenand young people to be active partners in medicines use in long-term illness.
The successful candidate will also be involved in data management,quality assurance and analysis and preparation of the final report. Thisproject will provide excellent opportunities for professional,management and intellectual development in health services research,including participation in publications.
Research Associate
Applications are invited from graduates in health or social scienceswith good research skills and the ability to work flexibly andindependently as part of a team committed to high quality research.Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills are essential.
