Description
The primary research in my lab involves the understanding of themechanisms of myocardial dysfunction. We utilize a wide range ofapproaches ranging from cellular, molecular biology to in vivophysiology. Cultured cardiomyocytes and isolated whole hearts are usedto study the molecular mechanisms of myocardial dysfunction and the roleof key genes/proteins in this process. To assess the physiologicalsignificance of each molecule, related knockout or transgenic andwild-type animals are employed. Current research projects are focused onsepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction and cardiac complications of diabetes.
Graduate student:
Position for HIGHLY motivated graduate student is available. Individualsjoining our lab will receive a complete training in molecular cellsignaling, molecular biology and cardiovascular path-physiology.Students are suggested to consult the pathology program web site toverify eligibility and initiate application at the University of Western Ontario.
Post-Doctoral Fellows:
Positions for talented and MOTIVATED fellows are available in our lab.Experience with mammalian cell culture (in particular cardiomyocyteculture), cell biology/molecular biology or cardiovascular physiology is required.
