Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Grade 7: £29,249 � £35,938 per annum

An opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Group (HER group), within the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM ). The work of this group focuses on HER (ErbB) biology and their inhibitors in relation to cancer treatment using a multidisciplinary approach, including fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET ) assay, conventional biochemistry and immunohistochemistry.

The Postdoctoral Research Assistant’s responsibilities will include carrying out a high quality translational research project in resistance mechanisms to ErbB inhibitors and biomarker projects. A further proportion of the workload includes the management of the laboratory including overseeing of PhD students.

You will have a PhD in Biochemistry or Cell Biology, or a related discipline. You will have extensive experience in carrying out research projects, preferably leading to publication. Experience in biochemistry techniques, including western blot, immuprecipitation, ELISA and siRNA transfection, would also be essential for this role.

This is a full-time post and is available until 30 September 2013 in the first instance.
