Joint Research between Argonne National Laboratory and Columbia University
        The condensed matter, materials science and leadership computing groups at Argonne National Laboratory and Columbia University invite applications for two postdoctoral positions.

         Join a research collaboration engaged in developing and applying novel computational methods for dealing with the physics of interacting electrons at surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures.

         The positions will be jointly supervised by Peter Littlewood, Associate Laboratory Director at Argonne National Laboratory, Anatole von Lilienfeld (Argonne National Laboratory) and Andrew Millis (Columbia University). One position will be based at Argonne which is 20 miles southwest of Chicago Illinois and the other will be based at Columbia University. Frequent visits from one institution to the other are planned.

         To qualify for consideration you must have;
        •HPC (High Performance Computation) experience,
        • Ph.D. (or equivalent), in a theoretical discipline such as condensed-matter physics, materials science, statistical mechanics or a related engineering field

         Also required is knowledge of at least one of;
         o ab-initio (band theory) calculations,
         o theoretical quantum chemistry, or
         o many-body physics.
         The position begins January 1, 2013 (or earlier by mutual consent). The term is for one year and is renewable for an additional year.
