Description
A postdoctoral research position is available in the Department ofMolecular Genome Analysis at the German Cancer Research Center to studythe molecular mechanisms of cancer progression and metastasis.
Current projects involve integrated studies using 2D and 3D cell culturesystems, FACS analysis, RNAi, proteomics and bioinformatics. Successfulapplicants will have access to state-of-the-art technology includinghigh through-put cell-based assays, cDNA- and protein microarrays, aswell as a variety of core facilities.
The aim of the project is to validate proteins, recently identified asmodulators of cell-cell contacts and cell-matrix contacts, in vitro andin vivo.
Profile:
• Experience in the following areas is desirable: in vivo animalhandling and imaging, measuring the effects of experimentalmanipulations on the migratory and metastatic behaviour, modern proteinand DNA techniques, RNA interference and immunohistochemistry.
• A strong background in genotyping of animals by PCR andSouthern-blotting and mouse-anatomy is a must.
• A keen interest in cancer metastasis, to work in an interactive teamand good writing and communication skills are expected.
We offer pioneering research projects and optimal working conditions inan international and dynamic scientific environment.
The position is open from April 2008 and limited until 30.09.2009
