Research Focus is the functional regulation of Nuclear Receptors by the PGC -1 coactivator: We are interested in transcription control by nuclear receptors as regulated by PGC -1 coactivator. Identifying agonists of this regulation offers new therapeutic approaches in research on cardiovascular disease, obesity and diabetes. We use a range of basic biochemical (in our lab) and in vivo assays (in collaboration) techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities: Post Doctoral Associate will perform research that will provide an opportunity to learn a variety of modern molecular biology and biophysics research including DNA , RNA and protein isolation and characterization, together with structure-function studies. They will also learn aspects of high throughput screening. These techniques include designing novel biochemical screens that allow the identification of small molecule regulators of nuclear receptor family coactivators, and NMR Spectroscopy techniques (at 800 MHz) that will determine how these small molecules impact structure and activity.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Biophysics. Prefer candidates who have published primary research articles and have prior experience with solution NMR spectroscopy of proteins.
