Emory University Atlanta, Georgia
The Departments of Radiation Oncology and Biochemistry at the Emory University School of Medicine are recruiting two postdoctoral fellows to join a multidisciplinary team that studies mechanisms of DNA double-strand break repair and ways to manipulate DNA repair pathways for therapeutic benefit. The work integrates results from biochemical, cellular, and mouse models. Potential projects include the role of RNA binding proteins in DNA repair, the use of TALENs to promote gene correction in hematopoietic stem cells, and development of drugs to inhibit double-strand break repair in radiotherapy patients. The positions require a Ph.D. degree, preferably with prior research experience in DNA repair, radiation biology, or drug development. Candidates should have a track record of scientific productivity and be willing and able to work independently to develop a successful project. Emory University offers a vibrant research community and state-of-the-art facilities.
