Description
A NIBR Postdoctoral Fellowship position is available for ahighly-motivated scientist to join a dynamic group in the Department ofCardiovascular Disease Area, focusing on atherosclerosis. This is anexciting opportunity to perform cutting-edge research in an industrysetting at our Cambridge, MA, USA site. The primary focus will be onmechanism of vascular flow dynamics with the ultimate goal ofidentifying novel targets for the treatment of atherosclerosis. Thesuccessful candidate will use both in vitro and in vivo assays toidentify and evaluate the function of candidate genes that modulateendothelial response to flow-mediated pathways. The fellowship is for asingle 3-year term.

Minimum requirements The candidate will possess a Ph.D. degree inMolecular biology or Biochemistry or related discipline and fewer than 3years of postdoctoral training. The candidate will have experience incell culture techniques, biochemical and cell-based assays. Hands onexperience with basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques suchas cloning, transfection with plasmids and siRNA, PCR, RT-PCR,site-directed mutagenesis, RNA isolation, Western blots andimmunoprecipitation are important. Experience with in vivo animal modelsis a plus. Knowledge and experience in lipid and cardiovascular biology,and/or inflammation are strongly desired. Candidates must be able towork independently and also participate in team efforts. Stronganalytical and problem-solving skills and scientific creativity areessential. Excellent oral and written communication skills andorganizational skills are required.
