The Centre for Trophoblast Research aims to promote the study of placental biology, with special reference to the trophoblast. The Centre is offering up to 2 Next Generation Fellowships to commence in October 2013 with the aim of promoting the prospects of high-calibre individuals pursuing innovative research which falls within the remit of the Centre.

Candidates should normally be within 5 years of the award of their PhD. Applicants must display evidence of academic excellence, a strong research record, and the ability to perform independent research.

A Fellowship is usually of three years duration (renewable in exceptional circumstances up to a maximum of five years) and may be held in any department within the University or its affiliated institutes. Fellowship holders are expected to apply for a Senior Research Fellowship from a research council or other funding body, or a faculty position during the course of their tenure.

This Fellowship will provide flexible funding of up to £55,000 per annum, inclusive of a personal salary, research consumables, equipment and conference travel. The scheme is open to UK, EU and Overseas PhD graduates.
