Postdoctoral position
Within the Departments of Cardiovascular Physiology and InternalMedicine III (Cardiology, Angiology and Pneumology) a position (Germanremuneration scheme TV-L E13) funded by the Federal Ministry of Researchand Education (BMBF) is available from 1 April 2008 for a
Postdoctoral research fellow (m/f).
The position will be funded for a period of three years with thepossibility of extension.
The successful candidate should enjoy interactive teamwork in the fieldof cardiovascular biology and have a qualified PhD or equivalent degreein the life sciences, preferably biochemistry, (human) biology, pharmacyor veterinary medicine. In-depth knowledge of modern cell and molecularbiology methods is a must as well a good command of the English language.
His/her research activities within the funded NGFN-Transfer project“Heart Failure Therapy” will focus on the cell-specific delivery ofdecoy oligonucleotides, i.e. nucleic acid-based drugs directed againsttranscription factors which have been shown to play a pivotal role inthe altered gene expression during myocardial failure. Therefore,experiences in viral or liposomal gene transfer strategies would be astrong plus for this position. The successful applicant will join a teamof three scientists, one PhD student and one technician at theUniversity Hospital Heidelberg who work closely with AVONTEC GmbH, aGerman biopharmaceutical company addressing large-market indicationareas with product candidates derived from its unique and powerful decoyoligonucleotide platform technology.
