Department of Pharmacy & Pharmacology
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions for a newresearch programme funded by Cancer Research UK. The appointedscientists will be working in a multi¬disciplinary drug discovery teamunder the leadership of Dr. Mike Threadgill, Dr. Matthew Lloyd, Prof. K.Ravi Acharya and Dr. Andy Thompson. The aim of the programme is todesign, synthesise and develop drugs which inhibit a new group ofanticancer targets, the sirtuins (Class 3 histone deacetylases). Theprogramme will be based in the Departments of Pharmacy &Pharmacology (RAE 5*A) and Biology & Biochemistry (RAE 5A), in thisworld-class University.
The posts are for two years to start on 1 May 2008.
Two positions are available for synthetic medicinal chemistry.Applicants should have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in synthetic ormedicinal chemistry, or in a related area. Some experience of evaluationof compounds as enzyme-inhibitors would be an advantage.
