Two postdoc positions in the area of Bioinformatics/Computational Biology are available in the Kostka Lab ( www.kostkalab.net ) at the University of Pittsburgh. The scope of the positions includes:
In-house sequencing technology (SOLiD and Ion Torrent) is available, and projects can be implemented as close, ongoing collaborations between experimental and computational scientists.
Applicants should have a PhD in fields such as statistics, computer science, bioinformatics and computational biology (or similar) and a strong interest in biological/biomedical questions. Good programming skills (R, C/C++, perl, python, etc.) are essential, and familiarity with Unix-like operating systems is required.
The University of Pittsburgh is ranked among the top ten NIH funded research institutions in the US, and the Kostka Lab (School of Medicine, Departments of Developmental Biology, and Computational & Systems Biology) is housed in the new Rangos Research Center of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
