Grade 7: £29,249- £35,938p.a., with a discretionary range to £39,257p.a.

Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Cancer Genetics at The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.

Genetic and functional studies carried out by Cancer Genetics group, both on familial and sporadic colorectal cancer has heavily implicated the Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP ) pathway’s involvement in predisposition to colorectal cancer (CRC ).

You will work in cancer and human genetics, including tissue preparation and analysis, genotyping and mutation screening, cell culture and analysis, primary cell culture, lentiviral generation and cell transduction, luciferase reporter assays, gene regulation assays (such as Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP), chromosome conformation capture (3C) and FAIRE ). You will be responsible for advising, teaching and if necessary supervising on a day-to-day basis laboratory staff working on relevant projects.

You will have a good degree in Molecular Biology or in a relevant subject alongside with demonstrable experience, ability and practical success in a molecular biology laboratory as well as experience of basic methods of molecular genetics and cell culture. You should also have competent MS Office skills, ability to work well independently or as part of a team and demonstrable ability to organise and prioritise work efficiently whilst delivering results
to required standard and to an agreed schedule.

This position is offered funded by The Medical Research Council and fixed term for 3 years.
