Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified postdoctoral scientiststo work on the mechanism of action of antidepressant treatment in bothan animal model and patients with depression. The position is funded bya Health Research Board Translational Research Award to amultidisciplinary collaborative group based in Trinity College andUniversity College Dublin. The position will be for three years in thefirst instance. The work will involve proteomic studies (2-D gels, massspectrometry, bioinformatics) with appropriate validation plus cell andmolecular biology studies. Successful applicants will join acollaborative group of neuroscientists studying the molecularneurobiology of mood disorders and neuronal signalling.
The position will be based in TCIN/Dept of Psychiatry, Trinity CollegeDublin. Appointed candidates will report to Prof Declan McLoughlin.
Candidates ideally should meet the following requirements:
1. A PhD in a related area, i.e. molecular and cell biology, neuronalsignalling, protein chemistry
2. Previous experience working on the neurobiology of depression
3. Additional experience with immunohistochemistry, in situhybridization and confocal microscopy is desirable
4. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaborativelyboth within the research group and with external collaborators
5. An ability to develop research ideas; successful candidates will beencouraged to apply for their own fellowships
