Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre
Postdoctoral Research Associate (Ref: EPS/80016)
Salary £27,466 – £30,013 p.a.
A BBSRC-funded Postdoctoral position is available in the ManchesterInterdisciplinary Biocentre to work with Prof. John McCarthy and Prof.Hans Westerhoff. The position involves experimental rate controlanalysis of the eukaryotic translation initiation pathway, both in vivoand in vitro.
We seek an enthusiastic and highly capable researcher withappropriateexperience in biochemical experimentation and/or genetics in yeast. Theideal candidate would have an interest in systems biology approaches,particularly computational analysis and/or model building, ideally inrelation to gene expression systems. However, candidates with relevantexperience in other
areas of quantitative bioscience are also welcome to apply.
The position will be for 2 years. Funding is available to support acandidate with three years’ postdoctoral experience. There may
be opportunities for engagement with related research beyond the initial2 years.
The work will be carried out in the newly opened ManchesterInterdisciplinary Biocentre (www.mib.ac.uk) which, with support from theWellcome Trust and the Wolfson Foundation has been constructed toaccommodate a range of research at the interface between physicalsciences and biology.
